About this tour
Master fundamental Thai dishes in Chiang Mai's Galangal Cooking Studio, a 5-hour morning session where you'll learn to balance heat, acid and aromatics under guidance from local cooks. The spacious, air-conditioned kitchen sits within extensive grounds featuring an outdoor garden where ingredients grow. You'll prepare several dishes from scratch, handle traditional techniques and take home real skills—not theatre.
Highlights
- Learn five core Thai dishes from experienced local instructors
- Cook in spacious air-conditioned studio on working grounds
- Access the studio's own garden for fresh ingredient sourcing
- Private transport included from your accommodation
- Relax in outdoor spaces between cooking sessions
What to expect
Arrive early morning at the studio grounds. After coffee or tea, you'll move into the kitchen where instructors demonstrate each dish's technique—knife work, paste-making, heat control—before you replicate it at your station. The pacing allows questions and adjustments. Between dishes, stretch in the outdoor relaxing area or wander the garden. By late morning, you've produced several plates of food ready to eat or take away. Expect to be on your feet for most of the session; the kitchen is casual and encouraging rather than formal.
Good to know
Private transport collects and returns you. Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes. The studio is wheelchair accessible throughout. Children under five can attend but may find 5 hours long; prams and strollers are welcome. Bring an appetite—you'll cook and eat real food, not samples.
