Class Mask Workshop - Create our Mask in paper mache

About this tour

Learn mask-making from a practising craftsperson in Italy over two half-day sessions. Shape paper pulp in traditional stone moulds, then embellish your creation with fabrics, pigments, Swarovski crystals, gold leaf and feathers. You'll leave with a finished mask you've built from scratch, guided through both the structural and decorative stages by someone who knows the craft inside out.

What to expect

Day one is four hours of hands-on shaping. You'll work paper pulp into the moulds under the craftsperson's eye, learning how the fibres bond and hold their form. It's tactile, unhurried work. Day two, you return to decorate. The base is ready; now you apply colour, attach embellishments, experiment with textures. Materials are provided. No prior experience needed—the instructor meets you at your skill level and adjusts the pace.
