What to expect

You'll start with hotel collection in Rome, then drive south toward Pompeii. Once there, your guide leads you through the buried city's streets, forums and homes—an unrushed look at everyday Roman life frozen by Vesuvius's ash. After two to three hours exploring, you'll continue to the coast. Positano appears suddenly around a bend: pastel buildings cascading down cliffsides to a small beach. Lunch happens here (your choice of restaurants). The final stop is Amalfi itself, where narrow streets lead to the cathedral's bronze doors and cloisters. You'll taste limoncello before the drive back to Rome, arriving late evening. Winter visits reverse the itinerary, starting in Amalfi when Positano's facilities are closed.
