About this tour

Descend into Italy's submerged Roman settlement at Baia, where ruins lie just five metres below the surface. This 2.5-hour guided dive is open to certified divers of any experience level. Your qualified guide leads you through the archaeological park, exploring structures and artefacts preserved underwater. All equipment, entry permits, boat transport and insurance are included, with showers and changing facilities on site.

Highlights

  • Certified-diver only access to intact Roman structures
  • Five-metre depth suitable for varied skill levels
  • Professional guide throughout the dive
  • RIB boat transport included from entry point
  • Full SCUBA kit and park admission covered
  • Showers and changing facilities available

What to expect

You'll gather at the Baia Archaeological Park entrance, where staff check your certification and fit you with gear. A RIB speedboat carries your group to the dive site. Once underwater, your guide navigates you past Roman foundations, walls and scattered archaeological finds. The visibility and depth make this accessible even for divers who haven't logged many dives recently. Expect about 40 minutes of actual bottom time. After surfacing, you'll return by boat to rinse off and change.

Good to know

Diving certification is mandatory. The site isn't recommended for those with spinal injuries, cardiovascular conditions or pregnancy. Public transport reaches the location. Optional lunch at a partner restaurant costs €35 per person and includes multiple courses plus wine.
