About this tour

Descend the sculpted middle section of Ecouges Canyon in the Vercors massif, a few hours from Grenoble. This sport canyoning session features up to 28-metre rappels, natural slides, and optional jumps into crystal pools. You'll work through a series of technical passages guided by someone qualified, equipped with all the kit you need. Roughly four and a half hours of proper adventure in remarkable terrain.

Highlights

  • Abseils reaching 28 metres down water-carved stone
  • Natural slides and optional cliff jumps into deep pools
  • Waterfalls and sculpted canyon walls throughout
  • Close to Grenoble, Lyon and Valence
  • All safety gear and wetsuits provided
  • Digital photos included for download

What to expect

Expect to move through the canyon in stages, setting ropes for descents whilst a guide manages safety. Between rappels you'll traverse slick rock, slide into basins, and decide whether to jump—no pressure if you skip them. The canyon walls are dramatic and water-sculpted. You'll need solid fitness and swimming ability to manage the swims between sections. Most sections are technical but achievable if you follow instruction. The whole session runs about four and a half hours with a qualified guide leading.
