What to expect
Expect a steady pace with moderate climbs and descents through working agricultural landscape. You'll wind between centuries-old lemon groves, their terraces carved into steep slopes, then enter cooler forest where prehistoric fern species thrive in the shade. The final push reaches the waterfall reserve—a narrow gorge with pools fed by fresh cascade. The walk balances exertion with stretches of easier ground. If opting for the San Lazzaro extension, add significantly steeper climbing and rougher terrain. Morning starts suit this trail well, as afternoon heat builds through the exposed sections.
Good to know
Wear proper hiking shoes with strong grip—scrambles and exposed roots are common. Bring at least 1.5 litres of water; refill spots are limited. Reserve entrance (€5) must be pre-booked separately; coordinate dates with your guide. Not suitable if pregnant or with cardiovascular concerns. Moderate fitness required. Transport to/from trailhead is your responsibility.
