What to expect
You'll board a traditional wooden fishing boat at Positano and head east along the coast. The boat idles past near-vertical cliffs studded with abandoned towers and tiny settlements clinging to ledges. Every hour or so the skipper cuts the engine and you'll slip overboard with snorkels into water so transparent you see the seabed. Lunch happens ashore at a harborside trattoria (your cost, your choice). Afternoons drift between more swims and a detour into sea caves; the Emerald Grotto requires a separate ticket paid on arrival. By late afternoon, the light turns golden and you motor back to Positano.
Good to know
The Emerald Grotto entry isn't included—budget €10–15 on top. Bring sunscreen and a rashguard; the sun reflects off water and rock. Lunch is separate unless you arrange it beforehand. Snorkelling gear supplied. Not suitable if you have back problems, are pregnant, or have heart concerns. Infants must sit on an adult's lap.
