About this tour

A 14-hour day trip from Rome combining Pompeii's archaeological remains with the dramatic coastline of southern Campania. Depart early in a private Mercedes with your own driver, explore Pompeii's preserved streets with a dedicated guide for two hours, then travel to the Amalfi Coast to wander Positano's pastel villages and Sorrento's narrow lanes. Return to Rome by 9pm. Entrance fees and meals are separate.

Highlights

  • Two-hour private guided tour of Pompeii's excavated Roman city
  • Positano's stacked pastel houses and clifftop views
  • Sorrento village walk through lemon-scented alleyways
  • Private Mercedes with English-speaking driver throughout
  • Bottled water and air-conditioned transport included

What to expect

You'll leave Rome early morning and settle into a comfortable vehicle for the drive south. At Pompeii, your guide walks you through ash-preserved streets, pointing out household mosaics and forum layouts—two hours gives genuine texture without rushing. Then it's onwards to the coast, where you'll have time to absorb Positano's vertical architecture and amble through Sorrento's pedestrian backstreets. Lunch is your choice: guides can recommend local trattorias (around €25–30), or grab a panini while exploring. The return drive takes you back to your Rome base by evening.

Good to know

Pompeii entrance (€15 per person) is not included. Bring comfortable walking shoes for uneven ancient paths. The coastal villages involve steps and slopes, though transport is wheelchair accessible. Service animals and prams are welcome. Plan 14 hours door-to-door.
