About this tour
When Em from our team tackled the Kawasan canyoneering package, we found ourselves clambering through limestone canyons, rappelling down waterfalls, and jumping into emerald pools just outside Cebu city. It's a full-on 10-hour day that demands serious fitness and nerve—this isn't a gentle nature walk. The vibe is pure adrenaline: you're swimming through narrow gorges, scaling wet rock faces, and trusting your harness over dizzying drops. Hotel pickups bracket the day, and you'll get a solid lunch halfway through, but don't expect creature comforts. This is for people who genuinely want their heart rate up.

- Remote Cebu backcountry, far quieter than coastal tourist zones

- Guides read conditions real-time, adapt route to group fitness
What to expect
Your day starts early with a hotel pickup heading inland from Cebu towards Kawasan Falls. After gearing up—harness, helmet, the works—you'll hike into the canyon proper. The first section is a mix of wading, scrambling over rocks, and short swims. As the morning builds, the canyon walls narrow and the drops grow. You'll clip into a rope system and abseil down your first waterfall; the water's cold and the spray disorienting, but the setup is solid. By mid-morning, you're soaked and buzzing.
Lunch happens at a shelter, and it's hearty enough to refuel. The afternoon ramps up: bigger jumps, steeper rappels, sections where you're climbing hand-over-hand up slippery rock faces using the canyon walls themselves. The physical and mental demand is real—it's not endurance hiking, it's combat-level intensity over shorter periods. By late afternoon, you're picked up and driven back, genuinely knackered. The whole thing is wet, exhilarating, and unforgiving if you're not fit.
Good to know
This is proper adventure—not a theme-park version. If you're fit, love water, and want genuine adrenaline without leaving the Philippines, it's brilliant. Solo travellers pair up easily (min 2 per booking). The guides know the canyon intimately, and safety gear is legit. You'll see almost no other tourists out here.
It's genuinely hard. Poor fitness, weak shoulders, or lower-back issues will make this miserable—don't bluff it. Not suitable if you're pregnant or have cardiovascular problems. Expect to be cold and wet for 8+ hours straight; bring a full change of dry clothes and accept they'll be damp by day's end. The canyon bed is slippery rock; ankle injuries happen. Kids need a capable adult in tow. It's not included: drinks (bring water), tips, and any snacks beyond the set lunch. Peak season (dry months) can have small group queues. Bring a proper waterproof bag for valuables, and wear shoes with grip.
