What to expect
Expect a demanding overnight push starting in darkness. The route climbs steadily through volcanic rock and scree, gaining 1500m over 10 hours. Your headlamp cuts through blackness as temperatures drop; bring warm layers. Around 3200m, you'll pause to witness pre-dawn alpenglow spreading across the horizon before the final push to the summit. The descent (via cable car, separate cost) takes roughly an hour.
