What to expect
Your Open Water course runs three to four days: classroom sessions cover theory and safety, confined-water drills build muscle memory, and four open-water dives consolidate real-world skills. You'll learn buoyancy control, mask clearing, and emergency procedures in shallow water before moving to the reef. Expect physical exertion—descending, swimming against current, carrying equipment—though instructors pace the work to your fitness level.
Advanced training follows immediately. You'll log another four dives, each targeting a different speciality you've chosen. Your instructor guides you through navigation underwater, deeper wreck exploration, or rescue scenarios depending on your interests. Most divers complete both certifications in 10–14 days, sharing accommodation at the centre to keep costs down and friendships growing.
Good to know
You'll need moderate fitness; spinal injuries, cardiovascular issues, and pregnancy are contraindications. Bali's dry season (April–October) offers calmer conditions and clearer water. Digital photos and videos cost extra. Service animals are welcome; the centre has lockers, showers, and WiFi.
