About this tour
Walk through Pompeii with an archaeologist who unpacks the city frozen by Vesuvius in 79 AD. Over four hours, you'll move between the forum, amphitheatre, bathhouses and private homes—reading the frescoes, mosaics and plaster casts as evidence of how Romans actually lived. Your guide reconstructs daily routines, trade networks and the final hours before the ash fell, turning ruins into a readable narrative of two millennia ago.

- Forum, amphitheatre and intact Roman bathhouses
- Lupanare, theatres and elite villas with original frescoes

What to expect
Expect to be on your feet for the full four hours, moving steadily between different quarters of the site. Your guide will stop frequently to explain architecture, read inscriptions, and point out details—graffiti, tool marks, carbonised food—that reveal how residents worked and socialised. You'll descend into underground spaces like the baths and move through both grand houses and cramped tenements, building a picture of who lived where and why. The guide contextualises discoveries with recent scholarship, so the walk feels like an active dig rather than a passive stroll.
