About this tour

Spend six hours learning to drift with Matenro, Tokyo's original drift racing crew, at the Daikoku circuit. You'll start with foundational techniques in a Miata or RX-8, progress to figure-eights and handbrake work, then ride shotgun with instructors who'll show you what proper drifting looks like. Beginners master donuts; intermediate and advanced drivers tackle higher-gear transitions and more complex manoeuvres. Free pickup and drop-off across Tokyo included.

Highlights

  • Self-drive JDM drift cars: Miata, RX-8, 350Z, 180SX, JZX100
  • Three-hour progression from zero to controlled donut
  • Ride-alongs with Matenro's OG instructors at session end
  • Figure-eights, e-brake work, and gear-change techniques
  • Meet active Tokyo drift scene locals and drivers
  • Private instruction tailored to your skill level
  • Complimentary transport to/from your Tokyo location

What to expect

You'll arrive at Daikoku and be fitted with safety gear, then get a brief on car controls and drift physics from your assigned instructor. For the first three hours, you're behind the wheel, practising low-speed donuts and building muscle memory for weight transfer and throttle control. Once you've nailed the basics, you'll progress to figure-eights or, if advanced, higher-speed transitions. Expect multiple runs, feedback after each lap, and honest assessment of where you're improving. The final stretch flips the script: you'll ride with the instructor driving, experiencing how a skilled hand approaches speed, line selection, and sustained slides. By the end, your legs will be tired and your neck will feel the g-forces.

Good to know

Bring water and snacks; no food is sold on-site. Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes. Not suitable if you have heart conditions or are pregnant. The session is physically demanding—accelerating, braking, and sustained cornering take their toll. Cars and instructors vary by day; skill matching isn't guaranteed but is prioritised.
