About this tour
A 9-hour private tour combining two of Spain's most significant sites: the Royal Palace in Madrid and the UNESCO-listed medieval city of Toledo. Your dedicated guide leads you through the palace's grand interiors before driving you south to explore Toledo's winding streets, dramatic hilltop setting, and centuries of art and architecture. Hotel pickup and drop-off included; lunch in Toledo is on you.
Highlights
- Royal Palace's official rooms and ceremonial chambers with guide
- Toledo's clifftop old town, largely unchanged since medieval times
- Two hours of guided commentary at each major site
- Private vehicle transport throughout the day
- Hotel collection and return in Madrid
What to expect
You'll start with hotel pickup, then spend roughly 2 hours at the Royal Palace learning its history and seeing state rooms. After that, it's a scenic drive south to Toledo (around 1 hour). You'll have free time to grab lunch—plenty of modest restaurants and bars in the old town—then rejoin your guide for a 2-hour walking tour of the historic centre, taking in plazas, churches, and the views across the Tagus valley. Expect cobbled streets, steep climbs, and crowds of other visitors, especially in summer. The return drive to Madrid takes about an hour.
Good to know
Wear comfortable shoes for Toledo's uneven terrain. Palace tickets are included but Toledo's churches and museums cost extra. Lunch isn't included. Minimum two people per booking. Infant seats available on request. The tour runs 9 hours door-to-door, so pack water and sunscreen.
