What to expect
Depart your hotel early and head north to Bang Pa In, where you'll walk the palace grounds and gardens at a leisurely pace. The palace blends Victorian and Chinese architectural styles; allow time for photos. From there, you'll transfer to the riverbank for a private boat journey around Ayutthaya's scattered ruins. Expect to navigate narrow waterways between temple complexes, spotting stone chedis and carved Buddha images from the water. You'll dock to explore select temples on foot. Lunch is boat noodles served onboard or at a riverside stop. The afternoon involves gentle walking between sites; wear comfortable shoes and hat. You'll return to Bangkok mid-afternoon feeling tired but satisfied.
