About this tour

Roll up your sleeves in chef Loredana's kitchen to craft an authentic Sicilian spread from scratch, learning time-honoured techniques passed down through generations. You'll spend two hours preparing dishes, then step out for a quick walk to admire Messina's bell tower before returning to sit down and eat what you've just made. The full experience runs four hours and wraps with lunch, wine, and the satisfaction of having cooked it yourself.

Highlights

  • Hands-on preparation of traditional Sicilian dishes with professional chef
  • Learn regional cooking methods and food stories from local tradition
  • Walk to Messina's historic bell tower, seven minutes from kitchen
  • Sit down to lunch featuring only what you've prepared
  • Included water and wine during the meal

What to expect

After arriving at Loredana's kitchen, you'll jump straight into prep work alongside the chef, who'll guide you through each step of building a proper Sicilian menu. Expect to use your hands—kneading, chopping, mixing—while picking up why locals do things a certain way. Around the midpoint, you'll break to walk over to the cathedral bell tower and explore its architecture before heading back. The kitchen will smell incredible by then. Once you return, you sit down to a proper lunch made entirely from your labour, with water and wine on the table.

Good to know

The apron is provided. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and prams are welcome. Service animals are permitted. Public transport stops nearby if needed. Allow about two hours for cooking, thirty minutes for the tower visit and walk, then an hour for lunch.
