About this tour
Learn to stretch, top and bake authentic Neapolitan pizza alongside a practising pizzaiolo in Sorrento's historic centre. This hands-on two-hour class covers traditional technique from dough preparation through to the wood-fired oven, ending with you eating what you've made. The terraced setting overlooks the Gulf with Mount Vesuvius on the horizon. Small groups mean real instruction and plenty of questions answered.
Highlights
- Knead and shape dough under a pizzaiolo's eye
- Master wood-fired oven timing and temperature feel
- Gulf of Sorrento views whilst you work
- Eat your own pizza straight from the oven
- Local wine and water included throughout
- Private transport to and from your accommodation
What to expect
You'll arrive at a working pizza kitchen where your instructor demonstrates proper dough handling—how much to work it, why rest time matters, what the finished texture should feel like. Then you'll make your own base, learning the toss-and-stretch technique without the showmanship. After topping with quality San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and local basil, you'll slide it into the wood-fired oven and watch it cook. The instructor judges when it's ready (usually 60–90 seconds at high heat). You'll sit down with your pizza, local wine, and watch other participants finish theirs.
Good to know
Wear clothes you don't mind flour dusting. The kitchen gets warm near the oven. Arrive fifteen minutes early. Wheelchair access and infant seats are available. Service animals welcome.
