About this tour
When Mia from our team took this out, we found it's a proper family setup in the Stockholm Archipelago—three hours paddling through the Bogesund Nature Reserve with your crew at your own tempo. The protected waters mean no white-knuckle moments; instead, you're island-hopping, spotting wildlife, and stopping for a swim or fika (Swedish coffee break) when the mood takes. Kids share double kayaks with adults, so there's no dragging reluctant paddlers along. The Archipelago feels genuine—pine-studded islands, quiet waterways, no theme-park vibes—and the private-tour structure lets families wander where they want rather than march with a gaggle.

What to expect
You'll meet your guide at the starting point and get fitted into kayaks—double ones for the little ones, single if older kids or adults want to paddle solo. The first hour is usually gentle exploration of nearby islands and inlets, with the guide pointing out nesting birds and seal hangouts. Around the two-hour mark, you'll pull ashore on one of the islands for fika and a proper break; this is when kids often want to paddle in the shallows or climb rocks. Swimming is optional but common, so bring swimmers if you're keen.
Pacing is genuinely yours—no "keep up or get left" stress. The waters are sheltered, so even nervous paddlers settle quickly. Mia noted the guide was attentive without being hovering, which meant families could have their own moments. The three hours feels right: enough time to feel like you've properly explored without little ones getting restless or adults getting sore shoulders.
Good to know
This is brilliant for families wanting something active without the adrenaline. You're paddling in calm water, so confidence builds fast. The private setup means no racing with strangers' kids or awkward group dynamics. Gear is solid, water and snacks are included, and waterproof bags mean your stuff stays dry. The Archipelago is stunning—genuinely feels like you're escaping Stockholm's buzz.
Not suitable if anyone has spinal issues, poor cardiovascular health, or is pregnant. Participants must be able to swim. Max height 1.95 m, max weight 110 kg. Kids under about 8–10 will be in a double kayak (shared with an adult), so they're not paddling independently. Weather matters—rain jacket essential, and summer can be chilly on the water early or late in the day. Ground to start/finish may involve brief walks. Bring appropriate outdoor clothes, sandals, sunscreen, and a change of clothes if you reckon someone will get soaked.
