About this tour

Spend two-and-a-half hours at Manaresi, a small family winery in the Bologna hills, where the proprietors walk you through their vineyard and cellar. Fabio and Donatella—English-speaking winemakers—share how their 50,000-bottle operation balances craft production with a design-led ethos (their labels have won international awards). Taste three or four of their own whites and reds, learning what shaped each vintage.

Highlights

  • Meet the winemakers during their working day
  • Tour vineyard and cellar at a family estate
  • Taste 3–4 house wines, white and red varieties
  • Award-winning label design reflects artistic heritage
  • Small-scale production reveals individual attention

What to expect

Fabio or Donatella will greet you and lead a guided walk through the vines and into the winery building, explaining their approach to fermentation, ageing and bottling. You'll sit down to taste the wines in sequence, typically starting light and moving to fuller-bodied reds. Conversation flows naturally—they're used to answering questions about terroir, harvest decisions and why certain batches end up in their final lineup. The whole experience moves at a relaxed pace, without the formality of larger houses.

Good to know

Bring water or order bottled water on-site. There's no food service, so eat beforehand or plan lunch separately. Public transport reaches the area; ask about parking if driving. Not suitable if pregnant. Wheelchair accessible; prams welcome. Service animals permitted.
