About this tour
Float and scramble down the Alcantara River gorge in Sicily, where millennia of water flow have carved a dramatic canyon lined with natural pools and rock formations. This two-hour body rafting adventure takes you through the Gurne dell'Alcantara on foot and in the water, navigating waterfalls and rapids in small groups. You'll wear protective gear and need basic fitness, but the payoff is direct contact with one of Italy's most sculptured landscapes.

What to expect
You'll start geared up in the river itself, moving upstream through increasingly tight gorge sections. The route alternates between knee-deep wading, chest-deep swimming, and climbing over smooth stone obstacles. Waterfalls ahead mean you'll either jump into pools below or find footholds around them. The canyon walls close in as you go deeper; water temperature stays cool year-round. Expect to be fully wet, slightly breathless, and focused on the next section. The whole push upriver takes about ninety minutes, then you'll head back downstream.
